Research interests: I am interested in the theoretical quantum dynamics and topology in both conventional solid state systems and engineered settings such as ultracold atoms. One major focus is periodically-driven (Floquet) systems, which use strong drive to engineer physics often inaccessible in equilibrium. In addition to using Floquet drive to create novel effective Hamiltonians, I study how drives enable non-equilibrium phases of matter that cannot be captured by a static Hamiltonian. This work ties in closely with experiments, with the overarching goal of developing organizing principles for non-equilibrium system that can be measured in the lab.
