Volunteers Needed: UT Dallas Community Invited To ‘Make a Mask’

Do you have sewing skills? Do you have 100% cotton fabric, elastic yardage or pipe cleaners you could spare? You can help out a fellow Comet.
A number of UT Dallas employees must be on-site regularly to maintain the essential functions of the campus, and some students remain in University housing and use campus services, such as dining.
Once the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention began recommending wearing cloth face coverings in public settings, volunteers across campus quickly launched the “Make a Mask” project.

Their goal is to provide two reusable, washable face covers to employees who are regularly on campus for their job duties. They hope to provide masks for other employees who occasionally are required to report to campus, and for students residing on campus.
If you can donate your sewing skills and time or any supplies that may be used to make cloth face masks, please email UT Dallas Staff Council member Debra Greszler at [email protected].
The group will share patterns that require basic sewing skills and lend their expertise to other volunteers. A limited number of sewing machines are available for loan.
Once an inventory is established, details will be communicated about how to acquire a donated mask.
