UTD Softball Player Looks To Swipe National Record
03.11.2019
UT Dallas senior softball player Melissa Livermore is poised to break a NCAA Division III national record this week for stolen bases in a career.
Livermore currently has 172 steals in her four years with the Comets — just shy of the NCAA D-III record of 176, set by Erin Pagel of Suffolk University (2002-05).
The three-time All-American could set the record when the softball team hosts Howard Payne University at 4 p.m. Thursday and at noon on Friday.
Livermore currently ranks No. 4 all-time for steals in NCAA D-III and is tied for No. 20 among all NCAA divisions.
As a sophomore, she set the UTD career record for steals, and last spring broke the American Southwest Conference career mark. In 2018 she led NCAA D-III with 54 stolen bases.
UPDATE: She did it!
