Ari Melenciano
Design Fluidity: Electromedia, Culture, and Activism

Ari Melenciano is a Brooklyn-based artist, designer, creative technologist, researcher, and futurist, who is passionate about exploring the relationships between various forms of design and the human experience. Her research lies at the intersections of human-computer interactive technologies, social impacts of technology, culture, sound, multisensory experiential design, experimental pedagogy and speculative design. Melenciano is also the founder of Afrotectopia, a social institution fostering interdisciplinary innovation at the intersections of art, design, technology, Black culture and activism.

Melenciano teaches design, technology and society at NYU and the Pratt Institute. She is also a Human-In-Residence at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program and one of the inaugural Future Imagination Fund Fellows of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
