Midori Kitagawa

Associate Professor

Dr. Kitagawa’s research interests include introduction of new technologies into K-16 STEM/STEAM education and outreach, visualization, simulation, modeling, motion capture, procedural methods, VR/AR, 2D/3D animation, and studio arts.

Dr. Kitagawa received over a million dollars from the National Science Foundation for the 3-year project titled Learning Physics in a Synergistic Scaffolded Programming Environment in 2017. The project’s goal is to create an interactive environment for high school students to learn physics, conceptual modeling, and computational thinking in a synergistic manner.

Dr. Kitagawa published Mocap for Artists: Workflow and Techniques for Motion Capture in 2008 and has been teaching courses on motion capture and procedural methods.
