xtine burrough
Professor
xtine burrough’s passion is creating participatory projects for networked publics and using digital tools to translate common experiences into personal arenas for discovery. She uses social platforms, databases, search engines, blogs, and applications in combination with popular sites like Facebook, YouTube, or Mechanical Turk to create web communities promoting interpretation and autonomy.
As an author, burrough has written, edited, and co-edited several books including The Routledge Companion to Remix Studies, Foundations of Digital Art and Design and Net Works: Case Studies in Web Art and Design.
She is the Area Head of Design + Creative Practice and the Creative Director of LabSynthE. burrough teaches Culture Jamming and Creativity as Social Practice at ATEC. She earned her BFA in Photography at The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University, and her MFA in Visual Art from Vermont College of Fine Arts.
