Future-Making at ATEC

A Message from Interim Dean Roemer

“ATEC future-makers apply critical analysis and ethical reasoning and add creativity, coding, and design to create new technologies that make the world a better place.”

Welcome to the School of Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communication (ATEC) at The University of Texas at Dallas.

ATEC is the youngest School at UT Dallas. You will find it is a diverse and dynamic community of students, scholars, researchers, and creative practitioners committed to innovation, learning, and service in North Texas and global communities. Offering Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees, our STEAM programs merge computer science and engineering with creative arts and humanities to create technological experiences that shape the world around us.

Our diverse faculty are industry leaders, academics, and artists who are masters in animation, critical play, cultural diversity, digital fabrication, disability studies, education, game development, immersive media, AR/VR/XR, performance, UX/UI design, and wearable technologies. They demonstrate a deep expertise in their craft and a commitment to student learning.

Our alumni use their talents to work with industry giants like Apple, Bottle Rocket, Capital One, Pixar, Disney, Google, NTT Data, Samsung, Toyota, and many others. They grow at ATEC and make a difference in their communities.

I invite you to spend time on our website. Discover the passion behind each of our Research Labs and Creative Studios. See the creativity behind each student project, and learn about our faculty who inspire, educate, and guide our students.

Once doing so, you will want to connect and be a future-maker too.
