Assignment 1: Pre-prodction and planning a capture session

Description:

Process book research

Every motion capture professional whom I have talked to and every book on motion capture that I have read emphasize the importance of planning ahead. Without a good preproduction and planning, your mocap project is destined to fail. You need to document your ideas before going into a motion capture session.

Everyone in the class should work in a group. Each group should have two, three, or four members. For each person in the group, there must be two captured motions to be edited, i.e., a group of three should have at least six captured motions.

John's marker set is recommended, but you are encouraged to experiment with the UTD standard marker set as well.

Produce the following four items for this assignment:

Set up a web site and post the script, storyboard, planning sheet, and shot list in your group's process book.

Notes:

  • If you have not gone through a pre-production process, you are strongly encouraged to take ATEC 2331 Storyboard and Pre-production.
  • You can use Microsoft Word, Dreamweaver, or any application that you like for web authoring.
